M1 money supply is a narrow measure of the total amount of money in an economy that includes currency, coins, and liquid deposits such as checking accounts, traveler’s checks, and credit union accounts. It does not include financial assets such as bonds, marketable securities, or money market funds which fall under M2 and M3.

The circle year-on-year change in Bitcoin (BTC) price can be compared over time with the circle year-on-year change in M1 money supply.

The major increase in M1 money supply in 2020 was a result of actions taken by policymakers due to Covid.
